So I’ve accepted the Challenge… or should I say Challenges (plural). It seems like online Challenge groups are the “in” thing these days and I have to say I’m acting like a school girl trying to join as many extracurricular activities as possible.
I’m currently participating in six Challenges: 1 Blogging Challenge, 2 Video Challenges, 2 List Building Challenges and a Money Making Challenge. I’m excited about all of them, but I’ll have to see if I’ve spread myself too thin by participating in so many at one time. All the topics were of great interest to me and/or were areas where my business could use a boost.
In case you’re not sure what I mean by a Challenge group, it is usually a group of like minded people working towards a certain goal in order to improve them self or their business. The group is most often led by a coach who helps you stay on track and provides valuable resources to help you attain your goals. The idea behind it is that you are more likely to get your best results with the support and accountability of joining others who are equally committed. Group challenges normally have a set number of days to accomplish certain tasks – they can be 30, 60, 90 days or however long the leader feels is best for the group. Some groups can be very competitive and some even offer prizes as incentive!
One of my all time favorite challenges is the Ultimate Blog Challenge sponsored by blogging expert, Michelle Shaeffer. This Challenge encourages members to write one blog post per day and share it with others. While I didn’t complete 30 posts the last time I participated, I still felt successful because it was the most posts I had ever written in the 5 years of my blog’s existence. It was like performing CPR on my blog and it brought back some life to it. This time I’m armed with my imaginary AED and plan to really shock my blog back into shape!
Apart from accomplishing certain goals/tasks, all of the Challenges I’ve been a part of have been so inspirational with other members offering encouragement and helpful advice. Sometimes some badly needed, but nicely worded criticism is offered as well.
All except one of the Challenges I have done so far have been FREE and have provided an amazing amount of useful information and resources. Unfortunately, I haven’t been as impressed with one recent Challenge that actually cost me money to join. I guess I had much higher expectations for that Challenge since it required a payment. But that just proves there are some really fantastic Challenges out there that don’t cost a cent!
Do you participate in any Challenge groups? Have they been helpful to you? If not, are you interested in joining such a group and what topic would be the most beneficial for you? Please let me know in the comments below and be ready to pick up that glove the next time it is thrown down.
